  Hotels employ two primary systems for securing their doors: the traditional magnetic stripe and the advanced RFID technology.

  Determining your card type is straightforward; here's how to tell if it's a magnetic stripe card or an RFID card:

  
  1. Look for an arrow at the front of the card;
  2. Check for a distinctive black (occasionally brown, silver, or gold) magnetic stripe on the back. If both are present, it is a
  magnetic stripe card.
  
  If the card surface is plain or only features an arrow front, you are likely using a
  RFID card.
  
  For additional confirmation, hold the card against a bright light to reveal the copper antenna inside, as shown in the accompanying image.
